Planned
Platform Safety Observatory
A planned programme to compare, with a published method, the safety tools that large platforms offer children and how well they work in practice.
The idea
Platforms publish policies, transparency reports and lists of safety features. We want to test, with a published and repeatable method, what a child or parent actually experiences: how easy it is to report someone, block them, or get an image removed, and what happens next.
Before it starts
The programme needs a written method reviewed by people with research and legal expertise, adult test accounts only (we will never pose as children), and a process for giving each company the chance to respond before we publish.
Status
Planned. Nothing has been tested yet. This page will be updated when work begins.
