About KIFOV
An independent initiative, in its first year, working to protect children from harm.
What KIFOV is
KIFOV is an independent initiative that works to protect children from harm. Much of that harm now starts or spreads online, so much of our work is about digital spaces, but our concern is children's safety wherever it is at risk.
We do three things. We make it easier to reach the services that can help a child, by keeping a checked, dated directory of them. We publish guidance and research on how children are put at risk and what protects them. And we examine how well the companies whose products children use live up to their own promises on safety.
Where we are now
KIFOV was set up in 2026. It is an initiative in formation: it is not yet a registered organisation, charity or foundation in any country, and it does not have charitable or tax-exempt status. We will say so here when that changes, and say where and how we are registered.
We are a small editorial team. We do not run a helpline, an emergency service or a reporting hotline, and we do not have any official powers. When someone needs those things, we point them to the organisations that have them.
The name
KIFOV is our name. A full legal name will be chosen when the organisation is registered; until then we use KIFOV with a plain description of what we do.
How we work
- The child comes first. We will not publish anything that could identify a child who has been harmed, and we follow a written safeguarding approach.
- Facts we can show. Every claim in our publications is linked to a source. We separate what is known from what is not, and we correct mistakes in public.
- No borrowed authority. We link to many organisations because their services are real. That does not make them our partners, and we never suggest otherwise.
- Independent. No company or government decides what we publish. When KIFOV accepts funding, we will publish who gave it.
Who is behind KIFOV
KIFOV's publications are produced by the KIFOV Editorial Team. As the team grows, we will publish the names and roles of the people responsible for our work, starting with the editor and the person responsible for safeguarding.
